Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District Manager, Kirsten Robertson, presented a webinar to the National Association of Conservation Districts on August 20. The webinar featured a video about the collaboration between community and governmental organizations to clean up a tributary of the Reedy River.

The next NACD Urban and Community Conservation webinar, ‘Engaging Communities in Urban Conservation’, is scheduled for August 20 at 12:00noon-1:00pm eastern time. Kirsten Robertson, District Manager for the Greenville County SWCD in South Carolina, will talk about how their partnership with inner-city Long Branch Baptist Church to stabilize a streambank led to other activities including an education amphitheater, multiple tree plantings, a playground and a nexus for community gardens where local youth are employed. Stacy Hansen, Communications Coordinator for the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, will share information about the Crow Creek Initiative and other community urban creek clean-up efforts.
