Greenville County, SC, September 29, 2015 – Reedy River Water Quality Group (“RRWQG”) has been formed by community and conservation groups; City, County, and University partners; and State, Regional, and Federal partners to protect, preserve, and improve water quality in the Reedy River. The Group’s mission is to develop water quality improvement plans using water quality monitoring, river system modeling, public education on pollution prevention, successful practice review, and economic impact analysis. ReWa Annual Reedy River Sweep
Since 1998, ReWa has held its annual Reedy River Sweep, a volunteer event for ReWa employees to give back to the environment. Blake Visin, Director of Information Services, was the organizer of ReWa’s “Stream Team.” The 1.5-mile riverfront at the intersection of I-85 and Mauldin Road runs through ReWa’s Mauldin Road facility and serves as the receiving stream for the facility’s effluent. EPA Supports Reedy River Water Quality Group
WQR, Inc., facilitators for the Reedy River Water Quality Group, received a letter of support from the EPA on July 31, 2015. In the letter, the EPA commends RRWQG for its efforts to engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of a water quality plan for the Reedy River.
GCSWCD’s Community Project
Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District Manager, Kirsten Robertson, presented a webinar to the National Association of Conservation Districts on August 20.
